The best gift ever!

I was wanting to purchase a strapless heart rate monitor for a long time now. Especially with my running schedule and the upcoming 5K’s and the half marathon, I was really feeling the pain of not having one. And then my mom gave me the best birthday gift ever. One week before my birthday itself. The perfect strapless heart rate monitor which also had multi functions like stopwatch, lap timer, calorie meter, alarm, history of my 10 previous runs and the list goes on…

mia.jpgThe advantages of using a heart rate monitor while you exercise are enormous. If you’re trying to lose weight or tone down or train for a specific event, a heart rate monitor is a great way to monitor your intensity and ensure that you’re burning the maximum number of calories. The number of choices out there though is very confusing. I did a little research and found that I needed something that told me more than my basic heart rate – something I could use for a variety of workouts, but at the same time, not too complicated or overly loaded with features. And yes, most important – I needed it to be strapless. I did not want to tie something around the chest and have it wirelessly transmit readings to the hand watch.

After oscillating between Nike, Polar and Mio, I settled for Mio - it had all the features I wanted, plus came in cool colors and coolest of all – I just needed to press down on the watch to get my heart rate at any time.
